One of the core functions of UK Polar Network is to represent early-career-researchers (ECRs) in polar science in whichever fora we can. We are here to push for greater inclusion and opportunities for ECRs and of course to improve EDI in polar science.

Here are some of the ways we do this:

1. Representing ECRs on national stakeholder groups, for example the UK Arctic and Antarctic Partnership, the British Antarctic Territory stakeholder group and Diversity in UK Polar Science Initiative.
2. Representing ECRs within large projects. For example we have representation on the Antarctica InSync national committee.
3. By submitting evidence to relevant parliamentary enquiries. Read more here.
4. By having presence at relevant conferences to keep abreast of the polar research landscape. For example, at the UK Arctic and Antarctic conferences.
