Gemma Clarke

Education & Outreach , 2017 – 2018

Background

I’m currently studying for an MSc in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health at the University of Edinburgh (distance learning, part time), whilst working as a Programme Assistant at the British Antarctic Survey.  I work on a number of EU funded projects at BAS, including ICE-ARC (Ice, Climate, Economics – Arctic Research on Change).  I’m also a Project Support Officer at BAS and work on HR and Equality and Diversity related projects such as our Athena SWAN charter application.

Outside of studies and work, I’m a DofE Expedition Leader, RGS Fellow and the ex-President of the Oxford University Exploration Club.  I’ve also just signed up to be a STEM Ambassador here at BAS, so that will keep me busy!

I first came across UKPN earlier this year, when I volunteered at the Leeds Science Festival after hearing about it via the UKPN mailing list.  It was such a fantastic and rewarding experience, so I signed up to join the committee and get more involved!
